GM Diet, General Motors Diet, My experience and review.

Well here we go, I am a 42 year old Male, height 5.6, weighing in at a pretty steady 200lbs. ( ie: think Joe Pesce, just better looking – LOL) also, in addition to not being a health nut, I am a chronic 3 to 4 cup a day coffee drinker with all the cream and sugar I can stand, and a medium to heavy smoker, 1 pack for every 1-1/2 days or so, and a Fast Food Aficionado,  I think you might be getting the picture, Basically I am a sad story waiting to happen!, and you know what they say only the good die young.

I am husband to only the, slenderest of Irish woman, with whom has always maintained herself, her figure and her beauty, all throughout our 27+ year relationship. Also,  I am father to 2 great kids, My boy 14, and Daddy’s little girl 10, All of whom, justifiably look at me with disgust, as each morning I drink my coffee, and enjoy a smoke or two, ( of course outside) and I have to tell you I really do enjoy that shit!!! But,  Caffeine and Nicotine really are not the ingredients to a long life.  So looking for a way, cleanse my body from years of abuse and a jumpstart living a healthier life, for myself, my wife and my children, my story begins…

Being a Car Guy, I was at our local auto auction, at lunch eating some over-priced slop . I had overheard another car guy telling his table, that he had just tried the GM Diet, and he loved it, and never felt better. I thought G.M. diet W.T.F. is that, So I asked, his response was, that General Motors , had this diet designed for their workforce, to promote healthier living, a more positive attitude, and knowing G.M., probably trying to some how reduce their insurance costs (smart). Anyhow, the research began as soon as I got myself to my computer, Google search GM DIET, poof there it was tons of pages, just like this one, of people reviewing, talking about and really just saying positive results about this General Motors Diet.

Fast forward, Jan. 19 2012 a few days later, we are out to dinner, with some close friends, As I am talking with , well, we’ll just call her Amira, as she might not want her name published in this article, She started speaking about wanting to get back on track after the holidays, with her journey of losing weight and staying healthy. You see Amira, a mother of one child, struggled with her weight, as most of us do. And in the past year or so, had lost a nice amount of weight through exercise and such, and really had succeeded in my opinion, because she looked great, but apparently, she said the holidays packed some of those hard lost pounds on, (I didn’t notice, she still looked great.) So I had mentioned that I overheard someone telling me about this Cleanse/Diet, and it really worked well for them. Not much else was said, except everyone else at the table, kind of looking at me weird, as they know I am a car dealer, and that, now I wanted to try a Car Diet….(lol..that is kinda funny).

Monday morning 10:36AM, Not knowing what I had started, was here soon enough, Not knowing that Amira, had researched the diet, got pumped, bought the needed items, prepared all her food I got a text, from my dear Amira, stating, ” Eat your fruit ONLY today and 10 glasses of water!! and also. notified, my wife, which in turn said, Amira is doing the diet and so are you, poof off to the store she went!! All I could think was, Me and My big Mouth!!

The Weigh In: Day 1 = 202 lbs.

During the first seven days you must abstain from all alcohol = OMG This is not going to be easy!!! LOL
You must drink 10 glasses of water each day!!!! = Seems easy enough, until you star counting…ie I’m Drowning!!
  • Day One All fruits except bananas. Your first day will consist of all the fruits you want. It is strongly suggested that you consume lots of melons the first day. Especially watermelon and a loupe. If you limit your fruit consumption to melons, your chances of losing three lbs. on first day are very good.

Okay, day 1 was pretty easy, But, Black Coffee – no sweetener .WTF – actually, much like straight vodka after 2 gulps it goes down like water!! Fruit for supper?? surprisingly easy!! over dosed on pineapple and strawberries myself!!

 

The Weigh In: Day 2 = 199 -1/2 lbs.

  • Day Two All vegetables. You are encouraged to eat until you are stuffed with all the raw or cooked vegetables of your choice. There is no limit on the amount or type. For your complex carbohydrate, you will start day two with a large baked potato for breakfast. You may top the potato with one pat of butter.

All I can say is that is the best Baked Potato, I ever tasted….and OOOHH the butter!!! Not really a vegetable guy.. But if you Roast cauliflower and broccoli, they are delicious  around 6 PM, the headache started,(a real thumper!!) must be having some sugar withdrawals or somethin’ I’m not a doctor!!!, Downed some Advil drowned in a cup or two of water, pounded some more veggies went to sleep!!

  • Day Three A mixture of fruits and vegetables of your choice. Any amount, any quantity. No bananas yet. No potatoes today.

The Weigh In: Day 3 = 198 lbs.

Well, I have to say, I am feeling pretty great today, But More Fruits and Veggies, not really feelin’ it!!!!! So on with it…..All I can say is Cabbage Soup!!!! although it doesn’t sound so good- that soup saved me!!! warm bowls of greatness saved the day!!!! No headache just got it over with!!

  • Day Four Bananas and milk. Today you will eat as many as eight bananas and drink three glasses of milk. This will be combined with the special soup which may be eaten in limited quantities.

The Weigh In: Day 4 = 197 lbs.

Only 1 lbs., F- This Sh$t, my mind is playin tricks on me!!!! But wait, I’m gonna stick with it, I feel great!!!, but I’m hungry like a MO-FO….and now only Bananas and Milk…..C’mon….Banged down 4 nana’s and a big glass of Milk, hectic day went by pretty fast!! lunch more bananas another glass of milk! Only soup for dinner ….more bowls of warm heaven!! and a banana milk shake ala’ wifey…was pretty good and off to bead!!!

  • Day Five Today is feast day. You will eat beef and tomatoes. Eat two 10 oz. portions of lean beef. Hamburger is OK. Combine this with six whole tomatoes. On day five you must increase your water intake by one quart. This is to cleanse your system of the uric acid you will be producing.

The Weigh In: Day 5 = 196 lbs. 🙂

OMG…..Beef!!!! OOOHHHH how I have been waiting for this day all week, Wifey made me a burger type thing with stewed tomatoes on top, I hate tomatoes, Rammed that sh$t down….not too bad…lunch consisted of cabbage soup, not too bad…Supper…wifey made a Roast Beef, bought some sun-dried tomatoes, surprisingly sweet!!! Ate 3/4 of that Roast Beef….delicous, more soup and of course water 🙁 drowning!! But whatever…and off to bed!

  • Day Six Beef and vegetables. Today you may eat an unlimited amount of beef and vegetables. Eat to your heart’s content.

The Weigh In: Day 6 = 194 lbs. :)) Holy sh$t – it’s fallin off!!!

Well, you know the drill, Beef and veggies, although I would have liked some fruit, I got by…..I am absolutely feeling …I don’t know how to describe it CLEANSED!!!! Beef, veggies, soup and of course more water… and bed..

  • Day Seven Today your food intake will consist of brown rice, fruit juices and all the vegetables you care to consume.

The Weigh In: Day 7 = 194 lbs. 🙁 sh$t didn’t lose any!!! I think I didn’t drink enough water yesterday!!!

Well, almost done, I personally love rice!!!!! So a big ass pot brown rice and vegetable jumbalaya….and I’m good to go more soup, plenty of water today!!!!!   and I am done…..I feel great, feel clean, really it turned out the week went by pretty quick and was definitely worth doing!!!

Final Weigh In: Day  = 193 lbs. – Lost total 9 lbs.

Average claimed weight loss on this diet is 10-18 lbs. Well not for me, I think I went a little light on the water, but overall, it left me feeling great, and cleansed from toxins, I am now trying a low-low carb diet to follow this up, I only drink black coffee, and I’m pretty much off sugar’s all together… I guess nature will now take its course. But it was a great jumpstart for me and I definitely would recommend this diet to anyone looking to do the same.
